TeX Live 2017이 이미 설치되어 있다면 다음과 같이 하여 2018로 업그레이드한다.(# 표시는 명령행 프롬프트이다.)

 * update-tlmgr-latest.sh를 다운로드한다. {{{
# wget http://mirror.navercorp.com/CTAN/systems/texlive/tlnet/update-tlmgr-latest.sh
}}}
  * mac에서 wget 설치를 안했다면, 다음과 같이 한다. {{{
   * curl -O http://mirror.navercorp.com/CTAN/systems/texlive/tlnet/update-tlmgr-latest.sh
}}}
  * windows에서는 {{{
    * [http://mirror.navercorp.com/CTAN/systems/texlive/tlnet/update-tlmgr-latest.exe]에 접근해서
    * 실행파일을 다운받은 후, 이를 실행한다.
}}}
 * 다운받은 스크립트를 실행한다.(만약 texlive가 관리자 권한으로 설치되어 있다면 sudo가 필요할 수 있다.) {{{
# (sudo) sh ./update-tlmgr-latest.sh
}}}
 * tlmgr을 실행한다. {{{
# (sudo) tlmgr update --all --self
}}}

이렇게 업그레이드하면 TeX 설치 디렉터리의 이름은 여전히 /usr/local/texlive/2017로 유지되지만 시스템은 새로운 2018의 것이 된다.
